A interpretação do filme de 2005 acentuou o romance e amenizou o drama muito mais do que a minissérie de 1995 o fêz; e essa diferença é clara no modo como Mr. Darcy é representado em cada uma.
O Mr. Darcy de 1995 (Colin Firth) é muito próximo do livro: um homem realmente orgulhoso, arrogante sem consideração pelos sentimentos dos outros. Já o de 2005 (Matthew Macfadyen) é antes um moço reservado, tímido e talvez melancólico.

The interpretation of the 2005 film emphasized the romance in the story, and softened the drama in it, on a much larger scale than de 1995 miniseries did; and this difference is quite visible in the way Mr. Darcy is portrayed in each.
1995 Mr. Darcy is very close to the character in the book: a man really proud, arrogant, and unmindful of other people’s feelings. 2005 Mr. Darcy is rather a young man who is reserved, shy, and maybe melancholic.
